Christmas Lights 2010

Last Saturday we went downtown to see the lights with our family and Bryan and Jenn's family. It was so much fun and the kids loved it! It was raining a little bit, but not too cold, which was wonderful! It was so packed though... In Temple Square I felt like a herd of cows, there were so many people! We got the kids hot chocolate from a street vendor and that was probably the highlight of their night! It definately helped get me in the Christmas mood!

Halloween 2010

So, I'm a horrible mom and didn't get pictures of my kiddos in their Halloween costumes... BUT, we had a fun night! Brock was a duck hunter (was going to be Elvis, but Brett said the costume didn't 'fit' right, if you know what I mean...),Bridger was a football player (gotta love it that he was able to wear Brock's uniform) and Andi was Rosetta (Tinkerbell's friend). They were all pretty cute!

Brock went to a Halloween party (yes, his first 'party') and came home with about 15 lbs. of candy! He was with a bunch of boys and they had a ton of fun. They called Brett at about 9:30, asking him to come pick them up with the truck so they wouldn't have to walk back to the party...

Bridger and Andi went trick-or-treating with Brett, Charlie, Dillon, Ethan and Avery. They came over for dinner first (we had YUMMY homemade chicken noodle soup!) and then took the kiddos out. It had started to rain a little, so they were only gone for about a half an hour, but they came home with plenty of candy!

I got to stay home, in the warmth, and hand out candy this year. It was fun to see all the kids' costumes, but I hope Alicia and I can take the girls out next year. Then, Brett and Bridger can go for as long as they want!

I know it has been almost a year since I've posted, but I am going to try to be better so that my sister (love you, Paige) can keep up with what is going on in our little family.

We have been so busy this summer and have had a lot of fun. August was the best, but the busiest: Bear Lake, Lake Powell and then football started for Brock. I NEVER imagined how time consuming it would be. It is crazy, but so much fun and Brock is loving it!

We are trying to get a trip planned to visit Nate and Paige in November, so hopefully everything works out and we're able to go. This is their last year there and our boys want to go so bad! I'll get some pics of Bear Lake and Lake Powell posted soon...

My Little Andi is 4 Years Old...

I cannot believe Andi is 4 already... it seems like a couple months ago she was a tiny baby. She is SO much fun and adds SO much to our lives. She is so animated and has the best facial expressions. She is constantly cracking us up! She loves her brothers so much, and surprisingly enough, they'll admit to how much they love her.

The week of her birthday I had training for work, so I was gone during the evenings. Brett didn't want to miss Andi opening her gifts and I didn't either, so he came home from work one afternoon and we both got to give them to her. I wish that I would have gotten a picture of some of her funny faces!

For her Birthday we took Chloe and Alicia to see Disney's The Princess and the Frog. The girls LOVED it and it was so fun to have a girls outing. Here is a picture of Andi (yes, she is holding her purse) before the movie. I cannot believe how much I love this little girl...

Christmas Eve 2009

On Christmas Eve we went to Honey and Papa's (Brett's parents) house. We have the 'magic circle' that you open your present in, and I don't think Andi was out of it for too long. Not because she had that many presents to open, but because she wanted to help everyone. :)

Christmas was so fun this year... I didn't get many pictures from Christmas morning, but here are a few.

After we opened presents we went to my parents' house for breakfast and ended up staying there the whole day. The kids, well EVERYONE actually, enjoyed playing the Wii. We took it over with a couple games and the fishing game was the most played... 6 HOURS! I think everyone (even my dad) had their turn and it was fun to play with everyone... Also, my dad made the BEST ham ever! He has come up with the yummiest recipe and perfected it with this one. It was delicious! We had a wonderful, relaxing day... I wish more were like Christmas Day. I love being with family.

Disney on Ice- Princess Classics

Alicia and I took Chloe and Andi to Disney on Ice last week and what a fun time we had... The girls were in awe! When Ariel came out, Andi's eyes got HUGE, her jaw dropped and she looked so amazed... starstruck. It was precious! She called Brett at intermission and told him she wanted him to be there so that he could see all the princesses. I'd love to make it a tradition 'date' for Andi and I; it was magical.

Cornbelly's October 2009

My friend Janna and I took our kids to Cornbelly's in October and we had such a good time. It was so fun to see our kids play and they got along SO WELL! :)

Andi and Brooke loved playing in the princess area. They loved dressing up, playing in the carriage... LOVE girls!!!

We had such a fun time, even though it was FREEZING! We let the boys lead us through the maze and they loved it, but I think they were getting frustrated towards the end. Luckily they got some help on how to get out and came back for Janna and I!

Puerto Rico

Brett and I took the kids to Puerto Rico last Wednesday and stayed for five days... it was a great vacation! It was SO nice to be in 90+ degree weather again! The humidity was crazy, but the warmth was well worth having it.

The flights were LONG, but the kids were such troopers. The flight from SLC-JFK sold out, so we had to fly from SLC-Long Beach, Long Beach to Fort Lauderdale and then Fort Lauderdale to San Juan. I guess flying for free is worth the hassle!

When we got into San Juan we went to Old San Juan and toured an old fortress. It was so cool and the boys got a kick out of it. It was pretty neat to see what they were able to build so long ago and crazy to see how they used to live!

This was the beach at Cabo Rojo... BEAUTIFUL! But, the water was almost too warm. It wasn't even refreshing to get in to!

I found a huge pile of crabs and this is the only one the boys dared to hold. It had a long shell, so they didn't get touched...

This was the morning of Bridger's 7th Birthday... He was so excited!

At Crashboat Beach thses little crabs were everywhere... They were from about 3 inches to 7 inches and Brock was so happy to see that they really do walk sideways! They were fun to watch.

This picture turned out horrible, but I had to post it because Brett is so funny. I was laying on the beach reading my book and there was no shade, so he found this tree laying on the beach and brought me shade! He also used it as a wig to tease the kids...

We went to the El Yunque Rainforest and it was absolutely beautiful... We walked/hiked to a waterfall and on the way back it rained... all I can say is rain in the rainforest is CRAZY! We got soaked, but it was fun.

Another one of the MANY lizards (or gecko, I don't know the difference) we saw. See, my kids are mezmorized... :)

I LOVE THIS MAN! :) He is the most amazing husband and father!!!

On the way back Brett was making motorcyles sounds and lifting Andi over the rocks, cracks, etc. She thought it was hilarious and was laughing SO hard!

It was definately an adventure, but one that we'll remember forever. We had some fun with trying to figure out our sleeping arrangements in Rincon/Aguadilla (the place we booked to stay turned out not so good and we had to find something last minute), but thanks to my mom, we were saved. She found another condo for us and then helped us find a hotel room for the last night. We decided to go back to San Juan the evening before our flight so we could go to the rainforest and with the traffic there, we were worried about getting to the airport in time.

One of the things Brett appreciated the most was their driving... While I would call it crazy and scary, Brett was so happy to see that they all drove like him... rather the way he wishes he could drive all the time!

Red Rock Relay 2009

On Labor Day weekend I ran in the Red Rock Relay and it was such an amazing experience... One of the most personally gratifying I've ever done. It felt like such a huge accomplishment, given two years ago I couldn't even run the distance of two houses. It is amazing what loosing 130 pounds and months of training can do! I've only been running since January of this year and the only races I'd done before this were two 5Ks... I was a little nervous about running the relay, but I finished! WAHOO!!!

Quick Update...

So, this is short and sweet, but a quick update on what is going on at our house...

Brock (finally) got in to Providence Hall, a charter school, and we are so excited! My boys have been on the wait list for over two years... Because Brock got in, Bridger has been moved from #333 on the general wait list to #19 on the sibling priority list. Hopefully it won't be too much longer before he can join Brock!

This weekend we are heading to St. George for a little get-a-way. I am running the Red Rock Relay Friday and Saturday, and then we'll be there, sitting by the pool, until Monday. We rented a house with our friends, the Millers (I am running the race with Whitney), so it should be SO fun. Brett and the kiddos are heading down tomorrow after school and will be there to cheer me on on Saturday. Bryan & Jenn, their kiddos, and Jim & Wendy are going to come down Saturday, so if the weather is nice hopefully we'll get to do some boating at Sand Hollow Sunday and Monday.

Other than that we've stayed pretty busy... Brett & I play co-ed softball, we've done a couple quick get-a-ways: a night up the canyon, a trip to the cabin, just trying to enjoy this weather to the fullest.

When we get back I think we'll have a couple quiet weeks until we head to Hawaii in October. We'll be there over Bridger's birthday and he is so excited!

I'll try to remember to take lots of pics this weekend and get them posted when we get back! Hope you all have a great weekend!

Andi's First Day of Pre-School

Andi started pre-school (or 'free-school', as she calls it) last Wednesday and she LOVES it. She is going with Chloe, and they are so excited to be going to school together... Andi has had such a hard time waiting so long to start! When the boys started school almost one month ago she was devastated that she wasn't yet... luckily the time has come. Now, I only have to break her heart on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays when she doesn't have school. If it were up to her she'd go every day!

My family decided that it was about time to get some updated family pics since Andi was a babe last time we did... We have Cade, Emersyn and McCoy that needed to be added! We had to do it before Nate and Paige headed back to Ohio, so we did them the Sunday before they left. It was the day we got back from Bear Lake, so it was quite a rush to get there... We made it and they turned out great!

Red Rock Relay

I am running the Red Rock Relay September 4-5 and am SO excited!!! It is going to be such a fun race and it is my first that is more than a 5K. I'm running it with my friend, Whitney Miller, her sister and a bunch of other girls that I don't know very well, YET! We had a meeting last week and got to meet most of them. I think we are going to have so much fun!

The race starts at 10K feet at Brian Head and ends at 3K feet at Tuacahn (St. George). It is going to be a beautiul 180 miles. My runs are 2.5 mi, 5.8 mi and 4.1 mi. It is going to be challenging but I am up for it and my training is going great.

I've had to start running in the heat to get ready, which I'm NOT used to, but on Saturday I ran 3 mi when it was 87 degrees and it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. I just have to remember not to wear a hat next time... It is amazing how much heat they hold in!!!

There are still team openings and it is going to be great, so if you have a team of 12 people you should run it!!! The website is www.redrockrelay.com...

School has started!!!

So... I'm sitting here having mixed feelings about today. The boys started school yesterday (Bridger just met with his teacher and today is his first day) and I thought I'd be ecstatic. Bridger has had such a rough go of things and we still don't have all the kinks worked out. We get to our witts ends SO much and I thought I'd LOVE having him in school all day... but the truth is, I miss him. :( This is probably what he needs, because he is so much better when he is busy. I love my kids so much and hate to see them hurt, so hopefully he'll love it. He as been SO excited to be in 1st grade, but admitted yesterday that he was nervous about meeting the kids in his class. So far we don't know of anyone that he knows who will be in his class, but he is great at making friends.

Brock came home yesterday so frustrated that in 5th grade you have to write everything in cursive... It made me laugh because I remember when I had to start that and I loved it! He has great handwriting, but it does take him so much longer to write in cursive. He is such a perfectionist (well, with only certain things! :))

Anyways, I'm sure they'll both do fine and get back into the routine of school in no time. (Unfortunately our Bear Lake trip all next week will probably throw them off again!) Here are pics of the boys on their first day of school...

Trial Lake

A couple of weekends ago we went up to the Uintas and camped at Trial Lake for the night. We'd just bought a 5th wheel and wanted to try it out. It was beautiful and I'd go there every weekend, but we've been told that the mosquitoes get REALLY bad. It was definately too cold for them, there was still snow on the ground!!! And yeah, leave it to me, I didn't even pack coats for the kids. :( Luckily we had the 5th wheel and stayed warm with the heat on!

We got there Friday evening and while I was cooking dinner the kids went and played. I loved this pic of Andi eating her chips...

Brett and the kiddos attempted to start a fire, but it didn't work. It's probably a good thing because minutes after we stopped trying it began to down pour!

Since we couldn't do S'mores over the fire, we tried them in the oven. Surprisingly they worked great and were SO yummy! These pics are evidence!

The next morning we woke up and the boys wanted to go fishing right away. Brett helped them look for worms, that is all the fish would bite!

My WHOLE family -Mom, Dad, me, Brett, Brock, Bridger, Andi, Trent, Lindsie, Dallin, Cade, Paige, Nate, Emersyn, Shawn, Kailey and McCoy- went to San Diego for the weekend. Unfortunately Carter couldn't come because he had to work all weekend... :( The flights were SO open and Paige and Nate had been planning on going for the past couple weeks. They asked my parents to go and eventually everyone had the time off and was heading to SoCal. We stayed in Del Mar, which was about 15 minutes north of San Diego and it was beautiful. Priceline gave us a STEAL on the hotel rooms and car rental (like $50/night regularly $150 and $20/day for the car which was regularly $40/day) so it was a very cheap trip. We got in just before noon, so after we checked-in at the hotel and changed into our swimsuits we headed for food and went to the beach. We stayed there until about 5pm and then went back to get showered and ready for dinner. It was Trent's birthday and he wanted In-n-Out Burger, so we enjoyed dinner there. We went to a swap meet Saturday morning and then my family headed to the airport because I had to work Sunday :(. My family stayed until today and they had a great time yesterday evening and this morning! It was SO nice to have the flights be so open and be able to use my flight benefits for my whole family.

After my mom told me about this and played it for me Friday night, I think I've listed to it over 100 times! I've been working all morning today and have kept it playing repeatedly. (Sorry, Brett, it is probably driving you crazy!!!)

It has been a long time since a song has moved me like this... he is an AMAZING pianist and hearing stuff like this makes me wish I wouldn't have given up the piano after seven years of lessons...

I can't wait for this to come out on iTunes, hopefully we won't have to wait much longer!

Chloe came with us when we had Emersyn and Andi's pictures taken and I decided to get their pictures taken too. They turned out so cute... I love the bright colors they are wearing!!! Anyways, I'm glad that I had Chloe with us, so that they could get their pictures taken together. Alicia and I have talked about it forever and I am so glad we finally have them... I know I'm kinda biased, but we have such beautiful little girls!!!

Lake Powell June 2009

Last Tuesday night we headed to Wahweap for some sun and relaxation. Our friends, Dustin and Whitney, invited us to stay on their houseboat with them and it was awesome! We had so much fun!!! We took the houseboat out Wednesday morning and stayed on a beach near 'cookie jar'. I'm not sure if that is the technical name, but it totally looked like the lid of a cookie jar! :)

We relaxed, swam and had some fun boat outings. My favorite was Rainbow Bridge. Saturday we packed lunches and headed out. We stopped at a beach up a slot canyon near the state park for lunch and then went over to Rainbow Bridge. It was amazing... I cannot believe it was both mine and Brett's first time there! It is beautiful and hopefully it won't be too long before we go back- our kids thought it was pretty cool too.

The slot canyons we went up were CRAZY narrow! I'm talking we had to have people on both sides of the boat to help guide the boat through. There were even times that we had to put the boat in idle and just push our way through... something that Brett and I have never experienced before. There are some pictures below, but they just do not do it justice.

One of the canyons we went up ended with enough room to tie the boats off to a small tree and we (rather the guys) decided to take the everyone on an 'adventure' and swim/hike up the rest of the canyon. It was cool until we were swimming in the dirtiest water I have probably ever seen. There was literally 2-3 inches of branches, leaves, dirt, logs, etc. on top of the water. We had to push our way through it and it was disgusting!!! I still cannot believe I went and neither can Brett. He was helping all the kids and others up the rock at the end of the swim and when he realized that I was there he had such a surprised look on his face. :) He didn't even ask if I was going to go because he totally thought I never would have. I was the last up and then after a little walk we had to go through a pool (I guess that is what you'd call it) that was about 3-4 feet wide, 20 feet long and the COLDEST water I've been in. It didn't have any yucky stuff (thank goodness) but it was the color of the redrock. Pretty cool. It ended up getting deep and we had to swim about the last 8 feet. We hiked a bit more and then the last pool before reaching the end stunk so bad (like sulpher) that we didn't go through it. Some did but they told the rest of us not to. We were all FILTHY and Brandon and Stephanie's shower on the back of the boat came in handy. We should have taken before and after pics!!! It was DEFINATELY an adventure and even though I think every child cried at one point (all except for my Brock) it was worth it.

Paige and I took Emersyn and Andi to get their pictures taken in the dresses our mom got them for Easter... Andi was SO happy to have the same dress as Emersyn! Then, she was even happier when she got to hold her for the pictures! We took them to JC Penney and I am pretty impressed with the pictures for spending less than $20! They turned out so cute... we have some beautiful girls!!!

On Sunday we went over to Honey and Papa's (Brett's parents) house to celebrate the April and May birthdays and Sanna's college graduation. They set up the pool so that the kids could enjoy the WARM weather and they had so much fun! It was nice to just sit and watch the kids play... Wonderful Sunday afternoon!

Hill Air Force Base Museum

On April 10th I took the kids up to the Hill Air Force Base Museum with Whitney, Stephanie and their kiddos... They had a blast! I'm really suprised that I'd never been there before... It was really cool to see all the planes; Brock and Bridger LOVED it! We'll have to go up again, because we weren't able to go in the planes outside, as Andi was REALLY needing a nap, so we had to leave early. Here are some pics...

They have a really cool area with interactive games and toys that the kids loved... We spent ALOT of time in here!

Green River/10 Mile Wash

Last Thursday night we headed down to 10 Mile Wash, which is a little past Green River, Ut. Brett and I had never heard of it before, but we had a BLAST! (Thanks again, Dustin and Whitney, for inviting us to go with you!) Friday and Saturday were beautiful... warm, but jackets were still needed. Sunday was another story... WINDY! It was bad wind though, because of all the sand everywhere. I think I still have sand to suck out of the carpet in the trailer!!! Even though, it was a great weekend with friends and the boys rode ALL DAY.

Bridger went from being wobbly to jumping and learning, by himself, how to shift his bike. We were all standing around watching the kids and Brett asked me if I heard Bridger just shift his bike... We hadn't wanted him to know how. The next pass Bridger made in front of us we heard him sing, "Ha Ha, I know how to shift!" All we could say was S*#!, under our breath. He is so crazy, speed is one thing that he (or so we thought) doesn't need. He wasn't able to keep up with the bigger boys, so he was really happy once he learned to shift. It ended up being fine, but of course, as his mom, I don't think I'll ever stop worrying.

Brock did amazing too. It was the first time Brett and I have seen him actually be comfortable on his bike and competitive. A kid from another camp came over to see if Brock wanted to race and he actually said yes! He was on a 65 and Brock is on a 110, so the other boy won, but I have to say that Brock did beat him off the line! Brock is already too big for his 110, and after seeing him on that 65, he could really use a bigger bike. So, of course, the day we got home Brett was online and found a KILLER DEAL on an 80. Yes, we got it for him, but he doesn't know yet, so shhh! :)

Anyways, it was a great weekend and we all got a little sun on our faces and hands (except for Brock and Bridger, who had their helmets on all day.) We even had to brake out the sunscreen! It was so nice to get away and we cannot wait to do it again! Here are some pics of the fun we had:

We had so much fun, but I never got to go for a ride in the cars... I really hurt my neck Saturday morning (I have no clue what I did, but I wasn't able to turn my head most of the day and didn't dare go for a ride.) Anyways, hopefully next time!

The drive home was eventful. A storm hit Sunday morning and so we were white knuckles a few times because of the wind and ice. The wind was crazy, but my dad's Dodge did AWESOME pulling our camping trailer and bike trailer. After that, I think we're finally ready to sell the Expedition and get a truck. So, hopefully we'll have a diesel out front soon! My fingers are crossed! :)

I'm a slacker... I haven't done a posting for almost a whole month!!!. Things have been so busy the last couple weeks. Baseball started, Nate, Paige and Emersyn were here and Brett and I have been working more than normal.

So... I have always wanted a really big family picture and we FINALLY got one! We had Brett's cousin, Tonya (www.tonyakimphotography.com) take our pictures in December and I picked up the prints two nights ago... I cannot tell you how excited I am! She did an amazing job! Now, I have to find an amazing frame... if you have any suggestions, please let me know!

It's kinda funny... I didn't even know she did photography until my brother-in-law and his family (Bryan and Jenn) said they were going to have her do their family photos. Of course, she did an amazing job with their pictures, too. If you go into the galleries on her website, you can see some of their pictures.

I have posted a couple pictures here, but we had SO many turn out SO good. I don't think I have ever wanted to order so many pictures from one sitting... I keep wondering if it is going to look funny to have every picture in my house with us in the same clothes!

Ballet Class

Andi and her friend, Chloe started Ballet two weeks ago. It is the cutest dang thing I've ever seen! A bunch of 3-5 year olds running around in leotards, tights, skirts, ballet slippers, etc. It is the best money I've ever spent on entertainment! Andi wanted to take her baby Alli, but I talked her into leaving her at home. Instead we took a picture of her with Alli.

So... yesterday Bryan took Hayzen and Brock snowboarding for the day. When Bryan brought him home, Hayzen and Ryder were with him. The kids played, we ate dinner and hung out for a bit. After a while, I realized that Andi and Ryder were playing in the front room and so I went to check it out. Ryder was in the corner, against the wall, next to the couch and... holding a camera. I thought it was our old camera that we've been using (it looks just like the one we lost.) I went in the room saying, "Uh-oh, we don't play with cameras buddy..." and he quickly replied with, "I just found it back there" (pointing to behind the couch.) When he said that I realized that he had found our MIA camera and so I started telling him "THANK YOU" over and over! He was pretty happy with himself (as was I) and kept giving me thumbs-up and high-fives the rest of the evening. THANK YOU, RYDER FOR FINDING OUR CAMERA!!!

I immediately knew that one of the kids had found it and tossed it back there, but wanted to make sure they hadn't deleted any pics. When I started up the camera, this is what I found:

So, obviously Andi had taken the camera the day after her ballet class and before we went to the airport. I was so glad to know that I was not loosing it! (At least with the camera...)

She came into the kitchen and I asked her why she put the camera behind the couch and all she did was smile at me and say, "I love you, mommy." This is what she does and says when she knows she is in trouble. I do have to admit that it kinda kills the 'I'm so mad at you' feeling, so all we could do was laugh. I told her not to touch the camera again and she said she wouldn't, so when my camera goes MIA again, remind me to look behind the couch! :)

AmAzInG PaSt WeEk...

So... I think we have lost our camera :( It makes me so sad but we have not been able to find it for over one week now. I know the last time I had it (at Andi and Chloe's ballet class last Tuesday) and then I took it out of my purse sometime between then and leaving for Paige's on Wednesday night. So, no pics to post for now, unless I can figure out how to get them from my phone!

Anyways... Cleveland was a BLAST! Lindsie, Andi and I went last week and it was AMAZING. Yes, it was FREEZING, but we were prepared. We flew into Pittsburgh and drove about 2 hrs to their house in Cleveland Heights. It was an easy drive and didn't seem like two hours at all! Paige's friend, Crystal, took Andi for the night and Lindsie and I headed off to the hospital. EJ (Emersyn Jayne) was born at 10:50 p.m., weighed 7lbs 11oz and was 21 inches long.

I have never seen a baby come into this world (yes, even having three of my own, it was the LAST thing on my mind!) I felt so honored to help Paige and Nate and be a part of the wonderful experience. I will never forget it!

Friday morning we woke up to Andi coughing and thought nothing of it, because she wasn't acting sick, but wanted to keep our distance from the hospital, as Paige and EJ were not able to move from Labor and Delivery right away. We went grocery shopping, found some KILLER deals at Target and just hung out. Saturday morning we woke up and Andi wasn't doing so well, but she didn't have a fever, so we went over to the hospital and she just kept getting worse and worse. She looked so lathargic (sp?) so Paige told me where an InstaCare was and we headed over there. By the time we got there she had a fever of 104 and she was such a sick little girl!!! Yeah, so we are there to help my sister with her newborn and Andi is diagnosed with tonsilitis!!!! I was going crazy! All I could do was cry... I was so frustrated... 1500 miles away from home, not able to be there for my sister the way I wanted to, having a VERY sick little girl, not able to put her in her own bed... (I know, I know... get out your violins...) I was off to try and find a hotel room since Paige and EJ were supposed to be released from the hospital.

After talking to Lindsie (who was still at the hospital with Paige) she told me that Paige and Nate were actually thinking about staying another night at the hospital because of the meds that Paige had been on. I was so sad to think that she'd have to stay there another night, but happy that they wouldn't be home until Andi had been on her antibiotic 24 hours. So Andi and I went to Target again (I stinking love Cleveland's Target) and got her meds and stocked up on antivirus sprays, antibacterial wipes and hand sanitizer.

After that, we went to the hospital and picked Lindsie up for a quick drive to Kirtland. After a quick stop at a gas station that we SHOULD NOT have been at, Andi fell asleep and it was a nice drive. It was even nicer for our next stop to be the LDS church history site with a CLEAN bathroom! We watched the video and then the sweet Sister missionary took us out to the Whitney Store. It was really neat and I'm glad we went there, just wish we would have gone earlier and been able to spend more time.

Anyways, we headed back to Cleveland and Sunday we cleaned and waited for the new little family to come home. We REALLY enjoyed our time with them and THANK them so much for letting us stay there and handling, so well, Andi being sick!

By the way... while I was away, Bridger was SO sick with a double ear infection and, of course, his asthma kicked in and he had a HORRIBLE cough. Brett, my mom and Alicia took such good care of him. It was so nice to know that even though I wasn't there when he was sick, he was being well taken care of.

Thank you, Brett, for letting me go and be with my sister and for holding down the fort. I love you so much and cannot tell you how much it means to me that you let me do these kinds of things without hesitation.

Christmas Day

Christmas day was wonderful and it was so nice to have a day to spend with the family and reflect on what we are grateful for and how many blessings we have. We are so lucky to be happy, healthy and have so much love in our lives.

I really tried to emphasize this year to the kids that Santa is NOT what Christmas is about. We talked a lot about giving to others, especially those less fortunate, and the importance of Christ, which is why we have Christmas. There have been many times over the past month that my boys have brought me to tears to hear how giving and caring they are.

On December 22nd we went to my Uncle Ron and Aunt Wendy's parents house to ride horses, eat chili and cinnamon rolls, ride sleds pulled by 4-wheelers (no, I did not get on one) and enjoy GREAT company. We haven't seen my cousins in forever and it was our little version of a "Christmas party." We talked and talked, played games and watched the kids (including my dad and uncle ron) play on the horses, sleds and 4-wheelers. Here are some pics...

Brett and I went to Vegas for a weekend get-a-way December 19th-21st. We had a great time and it was so nice to relax. We were going to go to the Vegas Bowl to see BYU, but we decided we didn't want to pack ALL of our winter clothes. (Yeah, the weekend we chose to go was a whopping 40 degrees- Yes, that was the high!)

We enjoyed dinner at the MGM Grand and the Jacuzzi Friday night. Saturday we slept in, went and visited one of my close friends since Junior High, Meagan and her family, watched some of the game on TV and then went to the show BeLIEve. It is Criss Angel's show with Cirque du Soleil. It was really good and WOW, is he crazy! Brett and I were amazed at how thankful and humble he is. Maybe it was just all part of the act, but it seemed sincere. On a side note, his mom and girlfriend were there too, so yes, I saw Hollie Madison!!! (Brett totally didn't care, but I'll admit that I was star-struck!)

So... we ended up having to drive home because the flight home sold out, but, after an hour or two of trying to find a car under $300 (Yes... a oneway rental, the week of Christmas for less than 24 hrs will KILL your bank account!) we finally found one. We asked for the most inexpensive car/rate/etc and this is what we got... Luckily for us there were no storms! This was a pleasant surprise and a fun car to drive home; definately NOT practical for our family, but awesome for Brett and I!

*Oh... Brett and I didn't gamble a dime, but we did luck out twice. At the BeLIEve show, we bought tickets on the last row (yes, we didn't want to spend $200+ for tickets) and they came to us as soon as we sat down and asked us if we wanted to move. We followed the lady all the way down to the 9th row! GREAT SEATS!!!

The second run of luck we had was our hotel held a raffle ticket drawing on Friday night and Brett told me that we might as well leave, as we NEVER win anything. I told him that we were going to win and to both of our surprise, WE DID! We won a 4 night/5 day stay in Hawaii for five people! We are going to take our kids in May for our anniversary and are so excited! We told them about it on Christmas morning and they are excited too!!!

The Polar Express

On December 12th we took the kids to the Polar Express with some of Brett's family. Everyone met at our house for soup and brownies and then made the drive to Heber. It was a wonderful experience and I'm sure the kids will remember it for a long time! (At least we hope they do!) :)

December 2008... Such a busy time of year!

Okay... I feel like not too much time has passed since my last post, but SO MUCH has happened! I'm going to try and catch up, so please bear with me. :)

On December 11th Brett and I went to a Christmas concert at the Conference Center. It was called Ring Christmas Bells and absolutely wonderful! (Thanks Glen and Dixie for the tickets!) It was so fun to get dressed up, see Brett dressed up, go downtown and enjoy spectacular Christmas music. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Orchestra at Temple Square and Bells on Temple Square performed with two guests; Brian Stokes Mitchell and Edward K. Herrmann. Both of them are pretty famous and were amazing.

Brian Stokes Mitchell has a mile-long list of accomplishments, but I was most familiar with him being the singing voice for Moses in the Prince of Egypt. He even performed Through Heaven's Eyes that evening and it was wonderful!

Edward K. Herrmann has a list of accomplishments just as long and I recognized him from many of his roles. The most memorable for me were Goldie Hawn's rich husband in Overboard and Roosevelt in the first film adaptation of Annie. (I LOVED Annie growing up!)

"They're Broken!"

So, before Andi can sit down to eat breakfast this morning she tells me that she has to get her pants on because the chair is cold. I told her to go get her pants that she wore yesterday on and we'd take a bath and get dressed after breakfast, so off to her room she went. A couple seconds later I hear her whining and she is in there saying "they're broken"... and "it's gone"... and "I can't find the other one!"

So I can only imagine what is broken and what she's done, so I tell her to come into the kitchen and I'll fix it for her. She comes in and holds her pants up and one of the legs is inside the other one, so when she held them up to put them on, she only saw one leg... I laughed so hard! She didn't think it was funny and just kept saying that they were broken, which made me laugh even harder. I called Brett and Paige to share the story and decided that I needed to blog it since I can NEVER remember the funny things my kids say.

Anyways, that was my funny for the morning and here is a pic of her showing off her "broken" pants!

Snowbird

On October 26th we went to Snowbird with Charlie, Cassie and Dillon to ride the tram. (Cassie was such a trooper being pregnant with TWINS in a couple months!) It was a great time and so nice to get up in the mountains and see the last of the changing colors! Here are some pics...

There were lady bugs ALL OVER at the top of the mountain... I would have thought it was too cold, but I guess not. Andi and Dillon were in heaven!

Update

We are all doing MUCH better! Andi and I are finally off the pain meds and I'm almost back to full range of motion. Andi has been off and running since last Monday, but her pediatrician (he is absolutely WONDERFUL!!!) wants to do more X-rays to make sure she is healing perfect and that her lungs are fully inflated again. So... even though we have had our fair share of hospitals over the past 8 days, we will go to Jordan Valley Hospital this afternoon or tomorrow morning to get the last bunch (keep your fingers crossed) of X-rays.

I have been asked if I'll ever get on a 4-wheeler again and I really don't think I will. My sister, Paige, and I were in a pretty bad 4-wheeler accident when I was in high school (we drove/fell down a 30-40 foot drop off to the road below) and I have never felt 100% safe since then, but I know how to ride them and so I've forced myself to do it for the past 12+ years.

Call me crazy, but I do still want to learn to ride a motorcycle and hope to get my own someday. I think after watching Brock, Bridger and Brett ride theirs I have seen that they have SO MUCH more control and can manuver and ride so much easier. Now don't get me wrong... I'm not going to be out there racing or doing obstacle courses, but I'd much rather ride a motorcycle when we go on camping trips or to the cabin then a 4-wheeler. What happened to Andi and I wouldn't have come CLOSE to happening had we been on a motorcycle!

Again, I want to thank both of our families and all of our friends for the help, prayers, support, dinners, and care you have given me and my little family over the past week. It has been very appreciated and we love you all!

Our Weekend... :(

So... we decided to go to the cabin this weekend and after breakfast on Saturday morning I wanted to go for a ride. Brett has Bridger with him on his motorcycle, Brock rides his motorcycle and then Andi and I went on the 4-wheeler. We do it all the time and always have a blast, but this ride was not a good one.

After making a horrible choice on which brake to use (yes, I know what I did wrong, but I'll not go into detail) the 4-wheeler rolled and landed on top of Andi and me. It was CRAZY SCARRY!!! I cannot remember ever being in that much pain and I have given birth three times. Anyways, Brett lifted the 4-wheeler off of us and he tended to Andi to make sure she was okay and she seemed to be. He sent Brock back to the cabin to get Honey and Papa (his parents) since I wasn't able to ride the 4-wheeler back.

When they got there, Brett put me in the car and Andi on my lap. Her breathing was so shallow I told him that we needed to get her to the hospital ASAP. He agreed and so once we got back to the cabin, Brett, Dixie, Andi and I went from their vehicle to ours and headed to Castleview Hospital in Price.

Once there, they immediately put Andi in a neck brace because all she could say was that her back hurt and she'd point to the back of her head. When we asked her to show us where it hurt, she'd say, "I can't show you" or "I can't see it." Broke my heart into a thousand pieces! She has a CAT scan and it showed there were no breaks, but part of her right lung had collapsed and had fluid in it; our choices were to have her admitted there or life-flighted to Primary's. They said it wasn't life or death, if it was, they wouldn't have given us a choice. We decided not to move her and have her stay there.

I was still not able to walk and needed to get somewhere to rest, but Brett didn't want me at the cabin or at home alone. He called my parents and they met him halfway up Spanish Fork Canyon to take me home to their house and take care of me. I hated leaving Andi, but I didn't have a choice...

Andi had two more CAT scans and they kept showing improvement, so she was just released and Brett is on his way here with her now!!! I cannot wait to see her and hold her in my arms!

Brett and I have the most amazing parents in the world and we couldn't have made it through the past 24 hours without them. Glen stayed at the cabin with our boys and took care of them, Dixie was at the hospital with us and stayed with Andi through the night. My parents came and picked me up and took GREAT care of me (my dad even went to the store last night and got deli ice for my ice packs and my favorite sugar free pudding!!!)

Anyways, we are doing better and want to thank our friends and family for their support and prayers. We have to take Andi to her pediatrician for a follow-up on Tuesday, so I'll keep you all posted.

Are We Bad Parents?

Would it be horrible of Brett and me to not let our kids trick-or treat? Hears the thing... we really want to go to our cabin and this probably going to be the last weekend that we can get in... The kids want to go, but don't know that it would mean no trick-or-treating. So, here is where I need your help; Do you think that we'll be the "mean parents" if we don't let them go?

Cascade Springs 2008

Every fall we go for a drive up American Fork Canyon to Cascade Springs and come home through Heber and down Parley's Canyon. We love it and look forward to it every year. We try to go on the morning after the first snow, but this year we went the week after, as Brett was out of town for work during the first snow.

It is absolutely beautiful and we love taking pictures of the fall colors. Here are some of the pictures from this year's drive...

Bridger's 6th Birthday!

Last Saturday, for Bridger's birthday party, we had his friends and cousins over to paint faces on pumpkins, play outside and have cake and ice cream. It was fun to meet some of his new friends from school and have a day just for him. After the birthday party we continued to party, as Honey and Papa, Bryan and Jenn, Chad and Heather and Gavin and Alicia stayed to watch the BYU football game and Red Sox baseball game. It was a fun-filled day and ended with Bridger falling asleep, on Honey, on the couch... Happy Birthday, Bridger, Dad and I love you SO much!

So, instead of flying home with my family on Sunday from Boston, Brett took me to the airport early and I flew to Cleveland. Nate and I planned a surprise for Paige and we pulled it off! She had no clue!!! We had a great time and even though the power was out for (basically) the whole time, I enjoyed every minute of it. Having the power out was kinda nice; it was quiet, which is VERY different from being home! :)

The day I got there we went to Little Italy and had lunch- We're talking AMAZING pastries! We each got a few and went back to Nate and Paige's house, watched a little TV, sampled the yummies and I took a nap. Actually, I passed out on the couch. That evening as Paige started dinner the power went out. We had fun cooking with a flashlight and eating a candle-light dinner. (My mom did it a few times when we were little and I remember absolutely LOVING it!)

The next morning Paige worked on getting ice so that all her food didn't go bad and she let me sleep in. We got up, ran a few errands and then went shopping. I was SO happy to see that they have H&M in Cleveland! After that we went to luch at The Cheesecake Factory and shared an amazing black bean soup and salad. Yes, we also got two slices of cheesecake to share with Nate after dinner.

When we got back to her house we were invited to go to an Indians game and yes, we wanted to go. (HaHaHa- I've been to more MLB games than Brett now!!!) Our tickets were for a suite Nate's Uncle's law firm has and it was fabulous. They had yummy food and decadant desserts! (We had to postpone our cheesecake until the next day.) The Indians won and it was fun to hang out.

Tuesday, my last day there, Paige and I went to her friend's house and got ready, since we still didn't have power. We packed a lunch and went to Lake Erie and the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. We ate on the pier and enjoyed the sun...

Then, sadly, she had to take me to the airport. I think the fact that Andi was having such a hard time with me still being gone is the only reason Paige was able to drive me there... She knew Andi needed me. For real, Andi wouldn't even talk to me on the phone! She didn't want to go anywhere and my mom said that she was just really sad the whole day. I guess I hit her limit to being without me!!! (Even though I felt bad, it was kinda nice to know that she really missed me!)

Thanks, Paige and Nate, for having me, letting me stay with you and entertaining me. I had a great time and cannot wait to come again. Yes, next time I'll bring Andi so that I can get away with staying longer! :) I LOVE YOU!

So, I'm finally getting around to posting the pics and info about our Boston trip and my Cleveland trip. I know it has taken me forever, but it was one of those things where it had been so long I just kept putting it off again and again.

We (Brett, Brock, Bridger, Bryan, Jenn, Hayzen, Dixie, Glen and I) went to Boston September 11-14 and went to a RED SOX game! It was all of our first time at Fenway Park and it was WONDERFUL! We had so much fun and I know Brett enjoyed not only being there with his boys, but with his brother and dad. It was definately something we'll NEVER forget! :)

Even though Bridger fell asleep for most of the game, he woke up for the best part; the end when we moved down to rows 4 and 5! After the game, Brett was able to touch the field and took (shh- don't tell anyone) a handfull of dirt. I thought he was going to cry!!!

While we were in Boston we also went sight seeing and walked some of the Freedom Trail. It was pretty cool to see stuff that we learned about YEARS ago and funny to think that our boys hadn't even learned about most of it yet... Maybe they'll appreciate it more once they do learn about it in school!

Anyways, Boston was a GREAT vacation (other than Andi not being ther) and Brett and I cannot wait to go back. I'm sure we'll have many future trips! WE LOVE BOSTON!

So, when I changed my layout I lost everything but my posts... Yes, I'm glad that I didn't loose them, but so bummed that I have to do all my pics and lists over again. (Mostly everything that is ton the right hand side and at the bottom.) SO, if I don't have you on my link list yet, please don't think that I purposefully removed you... I am trying to get everyone's addresses and info so that I can get everything back to normal. I also have a bunch of fun pics and info to post from our trip to Boston last week and my SUPRISE visit to Paige and Nate earlier this week. Hopefully I can get them posted tomorrow.

Two weekends ago we went to the cabin with Glen and Dixie, and Trent and Lindsie came with us. We had a BLAST! The kids had so much fun playing outside and we enjoyed the relaxation! We went on dunebuggy rides, went shooting, sat by the fire and enjoyed the cold. Yes, it was COLD up there! If you read Lindsie's blog, you'll know that it got down to 39 degrees the first night we were there... It was cold. I had a sweatshirt on the whole time and had to wrap up in a blanket by the fire in the evening. It was a nice change, but I'm not sure I'm going to welcome Fall with open arms this year. Oh well, it will be nice to have a change! Here are some pictures...

I forgot to tell you a super funny story about the day we left Bear Lake. While we were packing up the trailers and getting things ready to go, Andi and Ryder went for a walk (well took their little bike and scooter, they wanted to be like their big brothers) down into this field in between our camp and the beach. They played and after a while of them being down there, Jenn went and found them and had them come up so that we could leave.

We got a phone call from Jenn as we were coming down Parley's Canyon to tell us what Ryder had just told her. Out of nowhere, while he was sitting in the truck, he blurtted out, "Mom, I've got balls in my pocket." He went on to tell her that he and Andi had collected balls on their walk on the beach. She asked to see them, so he dug them out of his pocket and put them in her hand. It was dark, so she thought they were little pebbles or sea shells because of their size. She turned on the light and they were little RABBIT POOPS! So, after she told me, I grabbed the skirt that Andi had been wearing that day (I had changed her into her jammies in Evanston) and guess what I found in her pockets... RABBIT POOP!

Even though its pretty gross, I thought it was so funny and absolutely LOVE kid stuff like this! These are the little things that make life memorable. We haven't stopped laughing, so hopefully you too will get a kick out of our little ones collecting "rocks."

So, we just got back from Bear Lake last night and we had a BLAST! We had been there since last Tuesday, but I still wasn't ready to come home (well, really I just didn't want to come back to work...) But we are back to reality now. Thanks to Trent and Lindsie's camera (yes, I left ours at the trailer EVERY day) I got some pictures of the kids and the fun time we had.----------So who would have known that BOTH of my boys would have a "severe local reaction" to bee stings. They have both been stung in the past without having reactions, so we didn't know what was happening to them. Bridger got the first one on his arm the Sunday before we left, but by Monday evening his arm was HUGE with water blisters and open sores all over. I took a picture that my mom text me (he went up early with my parents) to our pediatrician and he said that it had staff infection. This picture doesn't even do it justice, as it looks SO much better here. After it had started to heal, he decided to throw rocks at some hives with Brock and Hayzen and got stung again!!! You think he'd learn! But, it didn't have such a reaction, just got really swollen.So, a couple hours after Bridger was stung for the second time we saw that Brock and Hayzen were still trying to destroy the hives, so we asked them AGAIN to leave them alone. Brock said, "We're tough enough and smart enough not to get stung." Hmmm... not more than five minutes later he came running to the trailer with his hand over his chin. He got stung too! His got really swollen but no sores or blisters, so we called him "Jay" for the rest of the trip. (The one side of his chin was so swollen that he looked like Jay Leno.) :)Besides the 'bee drama' we had a wonderful trip and I cannot believe another year of Bear Lake has come and gone. It still amazes me every time we go how beautiful the water is. I LOVE BEAR LAKE!!!

So... We got home from a week at Lake Powell on Friday and WOW was it wonderful! It was a much needed vacation and we had a blast. We went with Brett's family (his parents have a time share on a house boat) and we all had a great time. It was super hot, but the water was perfect. Brett and Brock went cliff jumping, Bridger ski'd (sp?) behind the boat, Brock, Brett and I wake boarded and Andi played and played. Bryan and Jenn got a new boat this summer, so we went on some fun rides, too. We tried to find the ruins and petroglyphs (sp?) up Moki Canyon, but we couldn't find anything... Maybe next time! We went to Raging Waters for the JetBlue Summer Party on June 7th. It was pretty cold, but still fun. They gave us tickets to come back any day this summer, which made it worth it. The kiddie pool was warm (no, I don't want to know why) so that is the only water Andi and I got in. Brett, Brock and Bridger braved the wave pool and water slides. The upside to it all was that the lines were pretty short! Anyways, it was a fun day and we are excited to go back when it is HOT!

So... why is it that kids love to take pictures (rather play with the camera,) but when you go to have their pictures professionally taken, it turns in to a form of torture?!?! I just love it when I go to upload pics from my camera and find ones like these. Man, the things they find interesting! No wonder they are so easy to please. I usually just delete them, but this photo op Bridger took was humerous to me, so I thought I'd post 'em!
